For completed past actions:

We saw Citizen Kane last night.

For habitual past actions:

We saw a movie every Saturday.

 

FORMS - Affirmative  
Regular verb We liked Citizen Kane.
Irregular verb We ate dinner before the show.
   
FORMS - Negative  
Did not base form We didn't like the movie theater.
  We didn't eat afterwards.
