For an action that began in the past and continues:

I have wanted that bike for months.

For something that has been experienced:

I have taken the train many times.


FORMS - Affirmative  
Have past participle I have studied marine biology for two years.
Has past participle She has studied marine biology for two years.
   
FORMS - Negative  
Have not past participle I have not worked here for very long.
Has not past participle He has not worked here for very long.
